Floyd Ketterling passed away peacefully Oct. 10, 2018, at the home of his brother, Willard, in Joliet. Floyd was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Wishek, North Dakota. His parents were Edwin and Martha (Sayler) Ketterling. In 1958, he joined the United States Army and served four years. He was stationed in Germany. He received an honorable discharge and then moved to Billings. He later moved to Casper, Wyoming. He met Carol Castleman in Casper and they were married on Nov. 6, 1964. They had one son, James Ketterling. In 1976, Carol was one of the first kidney transplant recipients in the western united states. At the time of her death in 1995, she was one of the longest surviving kidney transplant recipients. Floyd moved to Joliet in 2014 to live with his brother Willard and sister in law Shirley Ketterling. Floyd's favorite hobbies were painting, making small replicas of old-time wagons, reading western books and fishing. He is survived by his son James (Alissa) Ketterling; his brothers Marvin (Avis), Clarence (Eloras) and Willard (Shirley) Ketterling; and sisters Violet Meidinger, Darlene Weldele and Donna Held. He was preceded in death by his spouse, parents and his brother Robert. Cremation has taken place, and a grave side service with be held at a later date. He will be buried at Highland Cememtery beside his wife Carol.
