Dr. Floyd Wesley Kelly Jr. died peacefully at Central Wyoming Hospice on Oct 31st in Casper at age 74. Floyd is survived by his son Brad in Denver, CO and his daughter Brenda in Yakima, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Wesley Sr. and Sarah Edith, sisters Betty and Marilyn, and his wife Heather. Floyd was born December 30, 1941 in Greeley, CO and grew up in Las Vegas, NM and Durango, CO. He graduated from Ft Lewis College, Colorado State University, the University of Oregon, and the University of Idaho with a PhD in chemistry. He married Heather, a fellow chemistry student in Oregon on June 26th, 1965. After moving to Casper in 1969, Floyd taught chemistry at Casper College for over 43 years. Floyd was an accomplished outdoorsman and was published in several outdoor magazines. He was a skilled and passionate educator, and dedicated to his family, church, and community. To his children, Floyd instilled his love of science, humor, music, and the great outdoors. He was a gentle, loving, and supportive father. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, Nov. 3rd at the First United Methodist Church in Casper. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Floyd's life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Central Wyoming Hospice, First United Methodist Church, or the Casper College Foundation as welcome.
