Floyd Dale Harnagel, 81, of Casper passed away on March 25,2014, at Central Wyoming Hospice Home after a brief illness. Floyd was born in Casper on February 5, 1933, the only child of Harvey and Pearl Harnagel. He attended Casper Schools and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1951, then graduated from the University Of Wyoming College Of Pharmacy in 1956. He then went to work as a pharmacist for the Bi-Rite Drug Chain, where he had worked from 1950 in many capacities. He served in the Army, including a stint in Korea. In 1960, he became a partner in the Bi-Rite chain, and co-managed the several stores in Wyoming with Earl Carrico until 1984, when he became the manager of the Casper store. Floyd met Iris C. Wallace on a blind date, when she was working as a pharmacist in the hospital in Casper. They were married on September 4, 1965, in Casper. They then worked together for another 35 years before becoming co-owners and co-managers of the Casper store in 2000, with Iris serving the store as Chief Pharmacist. They enjoyed many friends, travel, history and music together, and celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in 2013. Many Casper and Wyoming organizations benefited from Floyd's belief in Casper, as well as his leadership skills and the giving of his time and money. He was Past President of The Casper Rotary Club, the United Way (and past Campaign Chairman); the Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy, the Natrona County and Wyoming Pharmacists' Associations, The Korein Mounted Patrol, and the Downtown Casper Association. He was a past Director of the Wyoming National Bank and N orwest Bank of Casper; past Director of the Royal Order of Jesters # 148 of Rawlins, Wyoming; past member of the Casper Civic Symphony (now the Wyoming Symphony); member of Shrine Temple of Rawlins, Wyoming; member of the Old Fellows Lodge and a Life Member of the Elks Lodge 1353 of Casper. He was honored by the Wyoming Pharmacists Association with the Bowl of Hygeia Award. For many years Floyd attended the annua14-H Junior Livestock Sales, purchasing cattle, swine and lambs for donation to the Meals on Wheels Program. He supported the Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions Program for many years, where he and Iris were honored with a special party for their generosity in October 2011. He loved animals and was a supporter of the Casper Humane Society. Floyd leaves behind his wife Iris, his mother-in-law, Retha Hubbs, Kansas; brothers and sisters- in-law Dennis Hubbs, Encampment, WY; Penny (Albert) Twomey, Wright, WY; Kim (Georgia) Hubbs; CA; Kody (Rick) Rogers, KS; Lawrence (Joyce) Wallace, KS; Jerry Wallace, KS; James (Geraldine) Wallace, IL; and Lois Wallace, KS, as well as several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Bustards Funeral Home officiating. Memorials may be made in Floyd's memory to Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, Meals on Wheels, The Casper Humane Society; or the Travel Fund of the Shriners Hospital for Children, which aids in the transportation of patients and their families; or to a charity on the donor's choice.
