Fern Vasquez

November 16, 1932 — May 27, 2012

Fern Louise Vasquez passed away on April 27, 2012, at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, WY after a long hard battle with cancer since 1998. Fern was born in Chula, Missouri on November 16, 1932 to Thomas Daniel Ireland and Edith Mae (Hines) Ireland. Fern met and married Lawrence (Larry) Vasquez on July 17, 1949 in Douglas, WY. They had two sons, Colin R. Vasquez of Port Orchard, WA, and Kelly W, Vasquez of Casper, WY. Fern is survived by her husband, Larry of Casper, WY, her sons, Colin, and his wife Sheri, and Kelly. Her sisters, Nadine Grantham and husband Les of Douglas, WY, Nancy Reed and Marvin (deceased) of Casper, WY, Verlene Norwood and husband Dave of Vernon, TX and Dixie Santistevan and husband Lee of Douglas, WY. Her grandchildren, Erin Smith of Bremerton, WA, her husband Mike, now serving in Afghanistan, Luke Vasquez and wife Tiffeney of Portland, OR, Bari Joel Vasquez of Seattle, WA Tanner Judd Vasquez of Casper, WY and Hannah Dale of Casper, WY. great granddaughter, Gabriella Marie Vasquez and great grandson, Chase Alexander. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Fern was a clerk for Natrona County for more than 25 years and retired in 1987 as a home-maker, loving her family, enjoying reading, sewing and crocheting. She was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church, Past Noble Grand of Rebecca Lodge #39, Den-mother of both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and a Lifetime member of the VFW, Ladies Auxiliary. Services for Fern will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home, Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 10:00am. Burial at Douglas Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Bustard's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Mountain View Baptist Building Fund, Central Wyoming Hospice or donor's choice.
