Eugene Odom Summers, loving father, husband and grandfather, died May 8, 2011 in Casper. Gene was born February 10, 1936 in Torrington, Wyoming, the son of Ralph Odom and Ruby Agnes Thayes Summers. Eugene Odom Summers lived his life fully, courageously and passionately. He was deeply loved and admired by many lifetime and more recent friends. Gene served his Country as a Navy man, and during his days in the service he developed friendships that continue to endure today. When he and his wife, Carole, married, they brought together two amazing families to form one extensive family of children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and Gene became affectionately known to all his kids as "Pappa". He loved his community and in April, 2004 he "Conked, Cuffed and Collared" two fugitives loose in Casper who mistakenly thought they could hide from authorities in Gene's shop. He gave of himself always and touched everyone in his life - leaving us all with memories of songs on the guitar, joy, love and laughter. To his family and friends, Gene will always remain a true legend. Survivors include his wife, Carole Summers, sisters, Nita Whitlock, Jackie Whitlock, Elsi Anderson and Debbie MacDonald. He is also survived by his children, Donald (Laura) Summers, Dee (Rick) Mullinex, Danette (Tom) Mullinex, Diane Christensen, Jaece Baker, Ricky (Lowenda) Allison, Bobby Allison, Jolleen Shepard, brother-in-law, Jackie Whitlock, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, too many to list! and nieces and nephews.
