Graveside services for Eugene Joseph Rowland, 74, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery Chapel with Pastor David Mondle officiating. Visitation will be at Bustard's Funeral Home from Noon to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Interment will follow at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. He departed this life peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, August 26, 2011, after a month long battle with lung cancer at Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions Home in Casper. He was born August 16, 1937 in Middletown, New York to James and Pearl Rowland. He served in the United States Air Force, where he met his beloved wife, Connie. They were married on August 19, 1961, at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. They moved to Casper in 1973 where they raised their three children. He was known for volunteering with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps and for being a part of the Troopers Parents Association. Also, during that time, he helped found Trooper's Bingo. He also called bingo at Bingo World for many years. He shared in his wife's love of art, mainly woodwork, but his passion was fishing. He also enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles and dining at the Red & White Cafe. He could often be seen cruising around town on his scooter. He loved to spoil all of his grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Kevin Rowland of Torrington, daughters Karen Stoppland and Karla Underwood, both of Casper; one brother, William Rowland of Willsboro, New York; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kaveda and his wife, Bonnie. Memorials may be sent to his family at 1745 Kit Carson, Casper, Wyoming or left at the funeral home. Following the services, there will be a reception at Parkway Plaza from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
