Funeral services for Gene Hauf, age 93, will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec 10, at Bustard's Funeral Home, by Ft. Thomas George, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Freeland Cemetery at a later date. He passed away December 4, 2019 at Central Wyoming Hospice. Gene was born December 24, 1925 in Lawrence County South Dakota, the son of Christian and Marguerite (Merrill) Hauf.
Gene lived on the family ranch and attended school in the Glendo area. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 and served his country in Germany during WWII. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Casper and worked as a master mechanic for Coliseum Motor Co. for over 25 years. In 1976 Gene and his wife Roberta started Terene Automotive where he worked until his retirement in 1991. Gene was not one to sit around so his retirement was short lived. The same year he retired he went back to work for Miles Land and Livestock Co. and hardly missed a day of work for the next 24 years. He loved ranching and fixing things and quickly became a huge part of the Miles / Price family.
Gene had 4 children: Sue Phillips, John Kennedy, Gwilda Wiyaka and Leo Dickey. 7 grandchildren: Shawna, Aaron, Jackie, Andrew, Angela, Laura and Mark and numerous great grandchildren. Gene loved animals and had several dogs over the years. He was preceded in death by his wife Terri (Roberta), daughter Sue and his dog Buddie. Gene was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He always worked hard to take care of his family and will be missed dearly by all.
Memorials may be made in Gene's name to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, WY 82601.
