Services for Casper resident Eugene C. Davis, 98, will be conducted at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Evansville Wyoming, August 24, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. by Pastor John Marshall. Cremation has taken place and interment will be immediately following the service. Born March 7, 1919 in Williamstown, Massachusetts, he was the son of Eugene H. Davis and Charlotte E. (Frazee) Davis. Following graduation from Williamstown High School, Eugene served in the Army Air Corp, survived the bombing on Pearl Harbor, the battles of Guadalcanal and Midway until he was honorably discharged in 1945. Eugene was awarded the Purple heart, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with three Service Stars. Eugene married Lois L. Briggs March 29, 1944 and later joined Marathon Oil Company and after working a year in Casper. Eugene moved his family to Powell to work in the Elk Basin Oil Field. In 1961 Eugene was transferred to the Oasis Oil Company in Libya, North Africa where he and his fully lived for eleven and a half years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois L. Davis; son-in-law, Wayne Waiters and was the last surviving brother of six. He is survived by his three children, a daughter, Marie (Wayne) of Louisville, Kentucky; a son, Eugene (Myrna) of Famington, New Mexico; and a son, Robert T. (Shannon) of Big Spring, Texas; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Eugene enjoyed gardening, fly fishing, and volunteering at Fort Casper Museum. He and Lois were long-time members of the First Baptist Church. He was also a life time member of the VFW and NRA. In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Eugene Davis may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice Program, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, WY 82601. .
