Eric "Rick" Ashba passed away on October 30, 2011 at the age of 57 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born on January 20, 1954 in Casper, WY to Leo and Helen Ashba. Rick graduated from Kelly Walsh in 1972. Rick met the love of his life, Pamela "Pam" Thornton in Phoenix, AZ in1986. They were married in 1988 and together they raised one daughter, Lindsay Anne Ashba, 18. Through the years they lived in several places from Wickenburg & Phoenix, AZ to Las Vegas, NV and back to Casper, Rick has been employed at Industrial Screen & Maintenance for the past 10 years. Rick loved life and never knew a stranger. If you were with Rick you were always having fun and all he had to do was give his little giggle and laugh and you forgot about your troubles for the time being. All who knew him describe him as a true man and a loyal spirit, ever thoughtful, ever kind. He was a friend that we all wish we had. He was a great athlete and loved sports. He was an accomplished skier and golfer. When he was a 9th grader, he made the KW Varsity Golf Team, which at the time had never been done before by any other freshman in the state. He is survived by his wife, Pam of 24 years and his daughter, Lindsay; his father, Leo Ashba of Casper, his sisters, Lea (Mike) Lockard of Casper, Kendall (Dallas) Laird of Casper, Jackie (Mike) Lythgoe of Mesa, AZ, Stacy Ashba of Casper, and Ashlee (Laurie Haywood) Ashba of Sacramento, CA, his uncle Jack Allen of Laramie, WY along with numerous nieces, nephew and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maxine & Maurice "Jimmy" Allen of Casper and his mother Helen Ashba McMeel. Services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church located at 3030 South Poplar Street in Casper. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the family may be left at Bustard's.
