Elvin Lyle Booth, born October 10, 1927, passed away at age 85, on February 20, 2013 at his family home in Casper after a short illness. He was born and raised on the family ranch near Ft. Washakie, WY. Elvin graduated from Lander Valley High School in 1945 and attended Casper College for one year. He took a break from his studies to join the United States Marines in 1947, and served as a rifle instructor toward the end of WW II and during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the Marines, he resumed his studies at the University of Wyoming where he majored in Agriculture. While at the university he met the love of his life, Jacque Buchanan and on June 16, 1952 they were married in Thermopolis. They raised four children on the family ranch until 1967 when they moved the family to Casper. In 1972, the couple purchased acreage near Pinedale, WY. Between 1972 and until the present time, they worked the land near Pinedale during the spring and summer months. They spent the fall and winter months in Casper. Elvin was named Distinguished Young Rancher of Fremont County; served on Ft. Washakie School Board; served as President of Fremont County Stock Growers Association. He was a member of the Shriners in recent years. His interests included ranching, hunting and fishing, boating, 4-wheeling , traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Jacque, of Casper; children, Patrice (Bill) Lichliter, Judy Booth (Ellbogen), Rance (Roberta) Booth, Kristine (Lloyd) Booth-Thompson ; grandchildren, Joshua (Lisa) and Crystal Lichliter, Sydney and Corey Ellbogen, Tye (Vickie), Michelle, Audrey Booth; also great grandchildren, Seth and Zack Booth. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Jane; his brothers, Jake, Marvin and Colin; and sisters, Lorraine "Tiny" and Vearle . Funeral services were held Monday, February 25, 2013 at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, WY.
