Memorial services for Elizabeth (Betsy) Knapp will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Debra Cato officiating. She was born in Buffalo, New York on October 17, 1912 to Dr. John Oppie and Irene T. McCall. On September 2, 1937 she married Dr. George M. Knapp in Larchmont, New York. The family moved to Casper in 1947. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Her community activities include the Girl Scouts and the Casper Fine Arts Club until her death. She served on the Board of Directors of the Casper Symphony orchestra for 25 years. In 1990 she received the Casper Chamber of Commerce Award in recognition of more than 50 years devoted to the advancement of the Arts in Casper. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Helen and Patty and a grandson, Kenny Fox. Survivors include two daughters and a son, Judith Fox (Earl) of Great Bend, Kansas, Linda Russell (Wally) of Whidbey Island, Washington, Dr. Geordie Knapp of Everett, Washington, one sister and one brother, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the Blue Envelope Cancer Fund, The First Presbyterian Church or the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra.
