Elizabeth "Liz" Georgeson died Sunday May 13, 2012 in Casper Wyoming of natural causes. A viewing for Elizabeth will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home from 10:00-12:00 on Friday, May 18, 2012. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. Etter Elizabeth Glass was born October 22, 1921 in Berlin, AL, a daughter to Levester Glass and Mary Elizabeth Leighton Glass. Elizabeth grew up in Alabama and graduated from high school in Dothan. She then attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee, FL and Massey Business College in Montgomery, AL. Liz joined the Women's Army Corp (WAC) in 1943 and served during WWII as a staff sergeant advancing to 1st Lieutenant. Toward the end of the war she was an escort for war brides from Europe to the United States, making 3 crossings. At the beginning of the war she was introduced to Jay Joseph Georgeson on a blind date in Los Angeles. They continued to correspond and date during the war. Because they were stationed on opposite coasts they eventually arranged to meet and get married in Altus, OK on May 7, 1947. After their marriage, they lived a short time in Laramie, WY, where she worked for the Registrar's Office at the University of Wyoming. They spent a year in Salt Lake before moving to Casper. Mrs. Georgeson and her husband both were employed with Mobil Oil Company for many years, When the refinery was closed they were transferred to Sioux Falls, SD. They lived there for three years and moved back to Casper. She was active in the First Baptist Church and later a member of the First Christian Church. With her husband Jay, they volunteered for Meals on wheels weekly for more than 35 years. She was also a volunteer for Interfaith of Natrona County. She was a resident of Casper for 57 years. She is survived by her husband Jay of Casper, one son Craig and his wife Cheryl of Lincoln, NE; a granddaughter Carly Schereer and her husband Steve of Colorado Springs, a grandson CJ of Lincoln, NE: great granddaughter Lea Elizabeth of Colorado Springs and cousins Jimmy Glass Brame, Faunsdale, AL, and Susie Elizabeth Lane.. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Lecester, Harold and James and one sister Mary Ellen. In lieu of flowers the family asked donations be made to the Meals on Wheels of Casper.
