Elaine York

Elaine York (age 91) passed away at Life Care Center of Casper on Monday, June 11, 2018, after a short illness. Elaine was born in San Diego, California on July 24, 1926, to Ethbert O. Harris and Irene M. (Miller) Harris. She also lived in Boise, Idaho before moving to Casper. She attended Casper schools, graduating from NCHS in 1944. After graduation, she worked at Casper Tribune Herald for a short time before going to work at Wyoming National Bank. On March 5, 1950, Elaine was married to Leroy York at the First Christian Church in Casper. She retired from Norwest Bank (formerly Wyoming National Bank) in July 1988. Elaine loved to bake and always had homemade cakes or cookies to put in her family's lunches. A family favorite was her German Chocolate Cake. On summer weekends, she could be found weeding her iris bed or hand trimming her lawn. Her favorite pastime in retirement was shopping with her sister, Marge, and stopping afterwards for a piece of Key-Lime pie. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne and son-in-law, Bob Anthony of Ponca City, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Kristi and her husband, Preston McCone of Edmond, Oklahoma; great-grandson, Andrew McCone and great-granddaughter, Amelia McCone also of Edmond, Oklahoma. Elaine is also survived by her sister, Marge Alm of Casper and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leroy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elaine's name may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice. Memorial services for Elaine will be Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Bustard's Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery. Her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at Life Care Center of Casper and to the doctors and nurses in the Emergency Room and 4th floor medical unit of Wyoming Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Elaine.
