Elaine Della Grussendorf

August 22, 1934 — March 4, 2025

Elaine Della Peikert Grussendorf completed her baptismal journey peacefully on March 4th, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming. Elaine was born August 22nd, 1934, in Cokato MN. to Carl Peikert and Della Prohl. Elaine grew up in Cokato Minnesota and was an honor student there. She was elected queen of Cokato and Wright County in 1952 where she represented Cokato in the Cokato Corn Carnival, the Minneapolis Aquatennial and the St. Paul Winter Carnival. She loved music, singing in choirs and playing the piano and organ. In her weekly phone calls with her sisters, she often played hymns for them. She blessedly passed that love of music onto her children.

Elaine married her sweetheart, Wesley Grussendorf on September 17th, 1955, and they were together for 69 years until his passing less than 3 weeks ago. In death as in life, Elaine and Wes’ love for each other continues and they are together again.

After being a stay-at-home mom to raise her 3 sons, she went back to school and received her teaching degree and taught elementary grades in the Natrona County School System until her retirement. Even in retirement, “Mrs. G” missed the children so much, she became a substitute teacher and taught for several more years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wesley and infant son Joel. She is survived by her sons Jon (Kristi) Grussendorf, Steven (Robin) Grussendorf and Brian (Amy) Grussendorf as well as 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her siblings, Carl Jr, Ann and Ruth.

A couple of Elaine’s most favorite hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “Beautiful Savior”. In honor of Elaine, sing as loudly as you can to your favorite hymn.
