Edward Young

July 3, 1936 — November 18, 2017

Edward Wendell Young was born on June 30, 1936 (on record July 3, 1936) to Chester and Edna Young in Denver, Colorado. Ed passed away peacefully on November 18, 2017 at Wyoming Medical Center from the results of a massive heart attack. He was 81 years old. He grew up and attended school in Denver, Colorado with his three sisters, Nancy, Beverly, and Patricia. At the age of 17, he voluntarily joined the Marine Corps where he supported the United States as a tank operator in the Korean War. While on leave in Hollywood, he met the love of his life on a blind date to a drive in movie, Donna Marie Roering. They quickly fell in love, and married November 30, 1957 in Minneapolis. They returned to California for a short time but soon made their permanent home in Denver, CO. During their time in Denver, they had 5 children and raised their family there. In 1974, they moved to Billings, MT to finish raising their family. In 1987, Ed was transferred to Worland, WY with Sweetheart Bakery, here they lived and worked until he retired in 1999. Retirement brought a lot of travel with their 5th-wheel visiting family and friends and making new ones along the way. Most winters were spent in Texas with some close friends of the Good Sam's Club community that Ed and Donna enjoyed being a part of. Summers were spent in Wyoming surrounded by family and friends. Ed was passionate about family, friends, and living life to the fullest. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America as his sons were growing up. He enjoyed spending his free time camping, boating, fishing, and hunting. Ed spent most of his years supporting his family as a truck driver for Salt Creek Freightways and Sweetheart Bakery. In 2007, Ed and Donna celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family and friends and many wonderful memories. Two years later, Ed lost the love of his life, Donna, on February 17, 2009. Shortly after, Ed reconnected with an old family friend, Renee Hildebrand. He spent the rest of his years enjoying his life with Renee and their dog Midnight. His family will miss him greatly but find comfort knowing that he is enjoying the reunion in Heaven with his family members whom have gone before. Because of the love and compassion he has taught us we will be strong and carry on his legacy and live life to the fullest. Until we see you again, rest peacefully and know we love you dearly. Ed is survived by his companion Renee Hildebrand and their dog Midnight (who was like his child); children Cherie Young, Keith (Cyndi) Young, Cindy (Greg) Becker, and Scott (Lyanna) Young; grandchildren Shannon (Alex) Tappe, Lana (Brandon) Dennis, Tayven (Rob) Giesbrecht, Chaley (Jakeup) Rider, Rachelle Redman, Stephine (Matt) Jolivet, Ryan (Laramie) Young, Josh (Courtney) Young, Cory (Chelsea) Becker, Brylee (Austin) Fudge, Christina (Jason) Mayle, and Jennifer (TJ) Henderson; and 15 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. He is preceded in death by his wife Donna, his parents, his sister Nancy, and his son Kevin. Services to celebrate Ed's life will be Monday, November 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery with a reception to follow at the VFW on Bryan Stock Trail.
