Edward Francis Friesen, Jr. died March 23rd, 2016 in Casper, Wyoming. He was born September 4, 1926 in Saratoga, WY and graduated from Greybull High School. Ed was drafted into the Navy and served aboard the USS Piedmont during World War II. After World War II he attended the University of Wyoming briefly before being recalled for Korean War service aboard the USS Breckenridge. He fought in the battle of the Chosen Reservoir and was awarded many medals and citations. He was honorably discharged in 1952 as a first class petty officer. On October 6, 1951 he married Gloria Lee Simkins in Pine Bluffs, WY and re-enrolled in the University of Wyoming where he received his BA degree. Ed worked for Amoco Production Co. for 32 years and retired in Casper. Ed proudly served as an elder at Trinity Lutheran Church. His interests were hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and watching sports. He is survived by his wife of 64 years and his son Bruce Edward of Katy, TX. Funeral services for Ed will be held at 9:00AM, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Holthus officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Bustard's Funeral Home in the West Chapel. Mr. Friesen passed away March 23, 2016 in Casper, WY.
