Edna Christina (Katie) Zurn, 100, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on February 20, 2024.
Edna was the youngest of six, born in Rhame, ND. to Fred and Magdalena (Ziegler) Weisz on February 12, 1924. She went to high school at Rhame High School and graduated in 1941. In 1945 she earned her nursing degree from Holy Rosary School of Nursing in Miles City Mt., then worked as a nurse in Jackson Hole, WY. and Yellowstone, WY. and Memorial Hospital in Casper. In 1950 she married Vernon Zurn, continuing to work as a nurse in various functions before moving to Sterling, CO. in 1960 where they owned and operated the Elite Motel for 10 years. They moved back to Casper in 1970, where she continued her nursing career and retired from Natrona County Hospital. During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, quilting with the Our Saviour’s, and playing cards.
Edna is survived by her children, Becky (Roger) Meyer, Randall (Debra) Zurn, grandchildren, Roger lll (Sara) Meyer, Gregory (Shelley) Meyer, Brian Bishop and Timothy Bishop, 6 great- grandchildren, Roger IV, Jacob, Caleb, Adley, Titus Meyer and Gavin Bishop. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Vernon, great-grandson Michael Zurn, her parents and siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church on Monday, February 26th, at 1:00 with Mike Eisenman of Our Savior’s officiating. Burial will follow at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery, Casper, WY. 82601. Bustard & Jacoby will be handling funeral arrangements.
