Long time Casper resident, Duane Britton passed away on August 24, 2015. He was born in Hemingford, Nebraska, on May 17, 1925 and at age sixteen graduated from high school in Glen, Nebraska. Two years later, he joined the Navy, serving his country in the Pacific Theater during World War II. When he returned home in 1947, he married Betty Darlene Peery and together they raised a family while Duane worked as a railroad lineman and then as a carpenter in northwest Nebraska and central Colorado. In 1955, at his father's suggestion, Duane moved his family to Casper where he became a Master Carpenter and member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. In 1967, Duane joined the staff of the Natrona County School System as a Master Locksmith and maintenance man until he retired in 1987. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Warren and Myrtle Mildred (Toliver) Britton; wife, Betty; son, Jerry Allen Britton; and brother, Jesse Devere Britton. He is survived by daughters, Ginger Ann O'Brien and Jenny Linn Briggs (Wayne); sons, Jesse Duane Britton (Diane) and William Ray Britton (Laura); and brothers, Ron (Crawford, Nebraska), Laverne (Morrill, Nebraska), and Warren Britton (Boulder City, Nevada). He has ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Duane is remembered in life for the love he had of family and for the great state of Wyoming. Graveside services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29th, Highland Cemetery, East 12th Street, Casper, Wyoming.
