Douglas Allan Follick, 72, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on April 21, 2023.
Doug was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to David Wayne and Juanita Ruth Follick on March 20, 1951. He moved to Denver with his parents at a young age, where he completed high school. Doug served in the military, earning his Green Beret as Special Forces Medic and was honorably discharged in 1975. In 1980 he moved to Casper and began his career as EMT for Memorial Hospital of Natrona County, obtained his Paramedic Certification, later becoming Director of Ambulance Services. He earned his Bachelor's in Health Services Administration, became Assistant Director of HR, then left Wyoming Medical Center in 1997. In 1999 he became Employee Relations Manager for the City of Casper; promoted to HR Director in 2000, and selected for Leisure Services Director in 2007. He retired from the City in 2017. Doug appreciated his staff and co-workers and considered many to be good friends.
Doug met his wife Colleen in 1988 and after an adventurous 28 day river rafting trip through the Grand Canyon with friends, realized they could do just about anything together. They married Valentine's Day, 1990 and began a life together as a blended family with three young boys. Doug taught his boys to ski at a young age and the family enjoyed many family ski, camping and fishing trips.
Doug's passion for skiing continued throughout his life. He joined Casper Mountain Ski Patrol in 1983, became a member of the Northern Division and was appointed his National number with the National Ski Patrol. He served the Ski Patrol for 23 years, earning two Purple Merit Stars for saving a life. He enjoyed his annual heli-ski trips to Canada with friends from 2003-2023; putting in well over 2 million vertical feet. Summers were spent golfing with friends and family.
Community services included; Casper City Councilmember 1997-1999; Member/Chairman Casper Chamber of Commerce; Member/Chairman Community Health Center Board; Member/Chairman, Three Crowns Golf Course Committee 2006-2020, member/Secretary Amoco Reuse Agreement Joint Powers Board 2015-2020.
Doug is survived by his wife, Colleen Marlis Follick of Casper; sons, David Wayne Follick and Daniel Patrick Follick, of Casper, step-son, Braylen Wayne Dunn and wife Monica Dunn, of Denver; grandchildren, Abigail Marie Follick, Casper, Annie Rebecca Dunn and Emily Marlis Dunn, Denver. He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Ruth Follick, brother, Michael Follick and sister, Terrie Conrad.
Celebration of Life to be held at Hogadon Ski Lodge, July 1, 2023, 2:00-4:00 p.m. with Military Honors at 3:00 p.m.
