Dorothy Carmanetta Lowe died on February 10, 2013, at Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions following a brief illness. Dorothy was born on May 10, 1924, and grew up in Bairoil, Wyoming. Dorothy was the oldest of ten children born to Baylous and Mary Britton. She moved to Casper to go to high school, and shortly after graduating she married Max Lowe. They were married for sixty-eight years.While Max was overseas during World War II, Dorothy lived in San Diego and was a riveter at Consolidated Aircraft. When Max came home, they returned to Casper where they raised their two children and lived the rest of their lives. Dorothy worked at the Casper Commissary for many years then as a secretary in the Pathology Department at the hospital. After retiring from the hospital, she and her best friend D' Anderson opened a small gift shop called Gimcracks. Dorothy was a talented china painter, and many homes in Casper have her china eggs and other pieces on display. Dorothy's life focused on family, friends, and her abiding faith. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church where she taught bible studies, sang in the choir, and was a youth leader. Later she and Max were members of First Christian Church. Max and five of her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Janice Kell (Robert) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Greg Lowe (Linda) of Westminster, Colorado; two granddaughters; and four great- grandsons. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 2 p.m., at First Christian Church, Casper, Pastor Cynthia McBride officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to First Christian Church, 520 CY Ave, Casper, WY 82601.
