Doris L. Whetham, age 93, passed away October 14, 2015 at Wyoming Medical Center. She was born July 29, 1922 to Ralph and Muriel (Emrick) Carpenter in Marietta, Ohio. Her family moved to Casper in 1928. She attended Casper schools and graduated from NCHS in 1940. She married Virgil D. Whetham, the man of her dreams, in 1940. She was employed by Security bank until her retirement in 1979. She was a charter member of the Theta Rho Girls Club and Rebecca Lodge #39. She was also a member of the Women's Banking Association. She enjoyed crocheting beautiful Afghans, working puzzles and especially visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and loved to bet on football and horse racing. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Carpenter, sister Virginia Marshall and beloved husband of 71 years, Virgil. She is survived by son Dale (Carla) Whetham; daughters Sharon (Robert) Wiley, Leslie (Butch) Ziker, and Shirley Mikalowski; grandchildren, Leah, Denise, Troy, Virgil, Daleen, Dianna, Daniel, Vicki, Mathew, and Gretchen; and many great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Gardens Friday Oct. 23 at 11:00am with Pastor Dennis Pumford officiating. A reception will immediately follow at 2121 Essex Ave. for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Doris' name to Central Wyoming Hospice would be appreciated.
