Doris T. Johnson

November 29, 1935 — September 23, 2024

Casper

Doris T. Johnson, 88, of Casper, WY passed away on September 23, 2024 at Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions.

Doris was born in Baldwin, ND to Laurence and Glee Adams on November 29, 1935. Doris married H. Paul Johnson on August 7, 1953 in Bismarck, ND. A Short time after in 1955 she and Paul made the move to Wyoming. Doris was not too sure about Wyoming (she wasn’t fond of sagebrush). Doris and Paul began their family of 3 three sons and 1 daughter: Ron, Rod, Robin and Laurel Kay (Laurie).

Doris was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Neighborhood Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Doris worked at the Post Office at Grethe’s in Sunrise Shopping Center. She also worked for Control Data. Doris spent many years working at Southridge Elementary School as a Classroom/Parent Aid, which was her favorite job, helping others. She was definitely our SUPERSTAR. She was the ultimate homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and being the Best Taxi Driver Ever. Doris and Paul moved to Portland, Oregon in 1983 and enjoyed their time there, returning to Wyoming in 1994. Doris loved her home in Oregon. She enjoyed the weather and growing season. Her roses and other flowers were gorgeous. She may have been miles away, but she still made sure everyone was taken care of. As a family we do not think she missed any Baseball, Basketball, Bicycle Races, Football, Wrestling, Volleyball, Track, Dance Recitals, Cheerleading and let’s not forget Baton twirling events. Once the Grandchildren came along, they always had beautiful crib bedding hand made with love and were never without an awesome Halloween costume.

Doris was also involved in The Carpenter’s Local 1564 Ladies Auxillary for many years. She made the BEST potato salad. Doris taught Sunday School at Mount Hope Lutheran Church and Our Saviors Lutheran church for several years. She always said, “the ornery ones are my favorite.” She was a Cub Scout Leader and active with the Southridge Elementary School PTA as well as with the NCHS Mustang Booster Club. Doris LOVED playing the slots. She enjoyed her trips to Reno, Deadwood, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She had a wonderful time in Las Vegas (at 79 years old) watching two of her Grandson’s compete in the World Archery Festival and walking the entire strip taking in the sights with her daughter. She even got to see the World’s Largest Zumba Competition which was happening on Fremont Street (to her surprise).

Doris is survived by her children, Ron (Wanda) Johnson, Robin Johnson, Laurel Kay (Laurie) Johnson; Grandchildren: Travis (Kimi) Johnson, Tina (Eric) Holbrook, Adam (Molly) Johnson, Dustin Williams, Evan Paul Williams and Aren (Jaime) Williams; Great Grandchildren: Corbin Quinn & Farren Riley Johnson, Christopher Wayne Johnson, Danika Marie and Khloe Rose Holbrook, Adleigh Lynn Williams, Oliviah Naomi Williams and Kollins Aren Williams; Sister-n-law: Judy Larson and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Doris is preceded in death by her Parents, Laurence & Glee Adams, Husband, H. Paul Johnson, Son, Rodney Lawrence Johnson, Brother, Louis Adams, Brother, Norman Adams, Sister, Evelyn Johnson, Brother-n-law, Vernon (Pete) Johnson, Sister-n-law, Dorothy, Grandchild, Matthew Lawrence Johnson; Nephews Norman Ray and Lauren Adams and Niece, Patty.
