Doris Marie Hlava, 89, of Casper, WY, passed away at her home on Monday, Aug. 11, 2015, from natural causes. Doris was born on April 16, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to California when she was 18, and met and married, Dean Hlava on April 22, 1945, in Santa Monica, CA. After a few years, Dean was transferred to Chicago, and then to Casper, Wyoming in 1955. She belonged to the Teton Chapter of the National Secretaries League, founded the local chapter of the Peripheral Neuropathy Club in Casper, was a member of the League of Women Voters; member of the Chez Nous Dinner Club; was a 4-H leader; helped found the 'Helping Hand' program in Casper; founded the miniature club; taught 'International Cooking' and 'Cake Decorating' at Casper College; made porcelain dolls; was a member of several quilt and sewing clubs; and was an active member of the Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean P. Hlava. She is survived by her three daughters: Susan Thomas of Grand Junction, CO; Karen Barrett of Redlands, CA; and Debra Dandurand of Casper, WY. Doris had 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Viewing will be at Bustard's on Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 7 pm. Service will be Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at 11 am at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lynn Williamson and Pastor Dale Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Oregon Trail State Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Meals on Wheels or Central Wyoming Hospice would be appreciated.
