Dora Stella Romero passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 93 on June 23, 2024. Dora was born in Monte Vista, Colorado to Lucy Duran on January 5, 1931. She moved to Casper when she was 16 with her cousin and this is when she met the love of her life Ruben Romero, and they were wed two years later. They were blessed to celebrate 42 years together before he passed away in 1989.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at Natrona County Memorial Hospital for over twenty years. She cherished her time working the nursey at the hospital. Dora was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children , grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. One of her greatest joys was watching and cheering her children and grandchildren in their sports and activities. She will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts. Dora enjoyed fishing, camping and baseball, especially the Rockies. She also loved her dogs Princess and Bama.
Dora’s kindness and love encompassed all aspects of life, and each was special to her. From joint family outings, to sharing meals, phone call chats, to helping in times of sadness and difficulty.
Dora is survived by her daughters Jeri Maben, Gail Cole, and Crue (Martin) Ellbogen. Son Ruben Romero all of Casper Wyoming. She had nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren. Dora was preceded in death by her husband Ruben Romero, sons Terrry Romero of Denver Colorado and Timothy Romero of Gillette Wyoming son-in-law Roy Maben of Casper Wyoming
An open house gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of our Momma Dora Romero will be held at 1160 Cheshire St. Casper, Wy on Saturday July 13, 2024, at 4:00 to 6:00. Dora will be placed with her husband at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
