Donna Lou Hartman

Donna Lou (Mitchell) Hartman Donna was born July 1, 1928in Fort Collins Colorado to Herbert R. and Mildred A. (Kerns) Mitchell. She grew up in Fort Collins and graduated from High School in 1949. She trained to be a retoucher for portraits and cuts and worked for Fishback Studios in Fort Collins. Donna and her sister Darlene sang on the radio in both Fort Collins and Denver Colorado. They made recordings in Fort Collins. She enjoyed playing her violin and guitar in church orchastras. On June 15, 1952 she married Clarence Paul Hartman. Paul graduated from Colorado State University and accepted a teaching position at the High School in Berthoud, Colorado where Paul and Donna lived from 1953 through 1956. They welcomed their baby daughter Paula Kaylene Hartman into their hearts and home on March 11, 1953. During this time Donna continued to work for Fishback Studios out of her home. In 1957 they moved from the city Berthoud to a farm west of Loveland, Colorado. At that time Donna discontinued her employment with Fishback Studios, who then had to send their retouching work to Denver, Colorado. Donna was not done working though. She took on the responsibility of helping her husband with the farm. 1965 found the Hartman family in Casper, Wyoming where Paul joined the faculty of Casper College. Donna was a victim of polio when she was only 1 1/2 years of age. She dealt with the after effects of the polio the rest of her life with Post Polio Syndrome. With the family's move to Casper they joined the First Church of the Nazarene. Donna taught Caravans, which is a scouting program, for 17 years. She taught kindergarten and first grade Sunday School at the Free Methodist Church in Loveland Colorado. She also served on the Church Board. Donna and Nita Becker began the Prayer Chain ministry where she served for so many years no one can remember. Donna and her beloved husband Paul started a bus ministry which operated for many years. Donna loved her Lord supremely and was determined to show her love to Him in everything she did. She worked diligently to memorize and present many chapters of the Bible. Donna was very creative in artistry and creating clothing. She is survived by her daughter Paula Kaylene and her husband Rev. James Knight, grand daughter Krista Caylene Knight, grandsons James Knight Jr. and wife Ashley, Kyle Philip-Paul Knight, 4 great grand children James, Christopher, Izak, and Kane Donna was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Paul Hartman, her parents, and infant grandson Christopher.
