Donna Marlene Wirth went Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, February 6, 2017 after a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Donna was born October 30, 1933, the fourth child of eleven, to Robert W. and Iris Howie Doyle in New Underwood, South Dakota. The family moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1942. She attended schools in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1952. That July, Donna boarded a bus for California where the love of her life, Lyle D. Wirth, was stationed with the United States Navy. They were married July 12, 1952 at Chapel of the Flowers in San Francisco. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary quietly at home with family. The couple had three sons, Don, Doug, and David. As Mr. Wirth continued his service in the Navy, they were stationed in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Japan, and Florida. After his retirement from the Navy, they settled back in Casper, where they added a daughter, Karyn, to the family. Mrs. Wirth was employed in numerous offices as she followed her husband with the Navy, but found her true passion in teaching school at Riverview/Lighthouse Baptist Academy for many years. Many of her students have called her their favorite teacher and have numerous stories to tell of her hilarious antics in the classroom, or how while reading Where the Red Fern Grows or Bobby Keeps Watch she would have to hand the book to a student to read because she was overcome with tears at the story. Mrs. Wirth retired from teaching in 1989, but continued to serve at Lighthouse Baptist Church as a deacon's wife, Sunday School and Junior Church teacher, choir member, and acted in dramatic presentations and comical skits that she wrote for special occasions. Hundreds know Jesus because of the testimony of Mrs. Wirth as she served the Lord since her salvation in 1956. In addition to church activities, she enjoyed flower gardening, writing stories, reading literature, and playing with her grandchildren. Family was most important to her, and she was thrilled to host large dinners during the holidays, especially the most amusing and memorable Thanksgivings. Mrs. Wirth is survived by her husband, Lyle, her children Don (Dee) Wirth of Eagle River, AK, Doug Wirth of Casper, David (Terry) Wirth of Glenrock, and Karyn (Darrick) Ducello of Casper, 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, DeMaris (Lee) Middleton of Sundance, and Patricia (Dan) Kelly of Casper, and nieces and nephews too numerous to count. She was preceded in death by both parents, siblings Donald, Muriel, Robert, Chuck, and Michael Doyle, Madeline Nansen, Doris Burchfield, and Wanda McDaniel, and one grandson, Aaron Wirth. Visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Bustard's West Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Lighthouse Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held later. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Alzheimer's Disease Research (brightfocus.org), the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or the local chapter, or Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions Program (cwhp.org). The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude for all those who helped Mrs. Wirth during her long journey with Alzheimer's.
