On November 3, 2017, Donna Rae Cain, 81, died surrounded by family. Truly a country girl, Donna was born on March 13, 1936 in her parent's, Wilbur and Mildred McElwain, farm house near Matheson, Colorado and attended a country school through 8th grade. She graduated from Limon High School in 1954. In 1952 she met Robert Cain while he served in the Army. They married on July 11, 1954, recently celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary. Devoted to her children, she attended countless sporting events, choir concerts, plays, 4-H, and dance recitals. She served as Sunday school teacher, room mother, library aide and school chaperone for all her children. She made every holiday and birthday special. As part of Christmas, she made a Christmas candy to share with her family and everyone fought over her caramel squares and two-tone fudge. Every child and grandchild received an afghan crocheted by Donna. She loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed family reunions. When Bob retired in 1994, they traveled, square danced and spoiled their grandchildren. Grandma was always ready for a tea party or sleep overs and provided second meals for grandkids claiming their mothers didn't feed them. "Grandcracker" always enjoyed a good game of Russian Rummy, Canasta, Skip Bo, Wahoo and Uno with her husband, family, and friends. Donna had a special place in her heart for every person that joined her family. Everyone was treated with her genuine smile that lit up the room when she entered. Spunky and ornery, she was always ready for a good laugh. She loved the mountain cabins and especially picnics. Donna was greeted in heaven by her parents, brothers, Verl and Leon McElwain, her infant daughter, Nancy Cain and great granddaughter, Penelope MacIsaac. Her legacy lives on through everyone who loved her. Survived by her sweetheart, Bob; children, Vickie and Carl Nelson, David and Kerry Cain, Connie and Mark Stinson; grandchildren, Chad and Shannon Nelson, Sean and Audrey MacIsaac, Leslee and Peter Fathallah, Eric and Amanda Nelson, Hannah Cain and Peter Crosta, Corenne Stevens, and Clarissa Stinson; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Lucas, Oliver, Norah Rae, Emily, Rory, Hudson, Maxwell and, on his way, Teddy; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Bustard's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Friday, November 10, 2017 at the funeral home.
