Donald Zimmer

Memorial services for Mr. Don Zimmer, 79, of Casper, WY, will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded they the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the United States Air Force. Don passed away August 22, 2014 in Casper, WY. Don was born March 15, 1935, to Frank and Mary Zimmer of Emmetburg, Iowa. Don graduated from Natrona County High School in 1953 and then joined the Air Force in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1958. Don then went to work for Chicago Northwestern Railroad and then went into business as the owner of Don's Vac Shack from 1968 - 1998. Mr. Zimmer married his high school sweet heart; Patricia A. Loggy, in Casper, WY at St. Anthony's Catholic Church and just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Together Don and Patricia raised 2 daughters; Stephanie and Kathy. Don was an avid fisherman who spent many hours searching for "The Big One" on Alcova and Pathfinder. He also enjoyed being a Denver Broncos season ticket holder for many years and attending University of Wyoming Cowboys football games. He was an animal lover and had a tendency to bring home any stray that crossed his path. Don was also a life time member of Elks Club. Don will be greatly missed by his mother; Mary (Zimmer) Anderson of Des Moines, IA, his wife; Patricia (Loggy) Zimmer of Casper, WY, his daughter Stephanie (Zimmer) Toigo and her husband Bob Toigo of Seattle, WA, his other daughter; Kathy (Zimmer) Deason of Casper, WY and numerous nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to The Casper Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, or the charity of your choice.
