Donald Clinton Trobaugh, age 88, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, Casper, Wyoming. Don was born October 17, 1929, to Elsie Louise Grebe and William Clinton Trobaugh in Boise, Idaho. After his father left his family, Don's early years were with his grandparents, George and Elbie Grebe, in Kuna, Idaho. He lived there until his mother could establish herself in Salt Lake City, working at the Air Base. He moved there until he joined the Naval Air during high school. He was a flight controller in San Diego, where he and met a Navy Wave who captured his heart. He married Kathleen Ann Rieder of New York City on Valentine's Day, 1950. By Christmas, a daughter, Anne Louise, was born. Don was assigned to the control tower in Manila, Philippines, leaving Kathleen and their newborn in Salt Lake with his mother until his discharge in October, 1952. A son, George Charles, was born in 1954, during a fishing trip in Hailey, Idaho. He settled into banking and finance in Salt Lake until 1960, when he tried his hand in an International Harvester business in Gunnison, Utah. It wasn't a good fit, so he moved his family to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1961, where he returned to finance, and eventually opened his own collections business, Community Management. Don and Kathleen retired in 1983 to full time RV and travel. After several years of summering in Howard, Colorado, and wintering in Arizona, they decided to settle in Howard. Health problems required a lower elevation, moving to Cottonwood, Arizona, until after Kathleen passed away in 2010, then Don moved to Casper, close to family. Don was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and son George. He is survived by Anne (Craig) Carlsen of Casper, Wyoming, grandchildren Jennifer (Todd) Kvislen of Rapid City, South Dakota, Emily (Chad) Richardson of Dubuque, Iowa, Christopher (Nathalie) Carlsen, of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Bailee Trobaugh. In addition, he has nine great grandchildren, Paige, Zakary, Alexis, William, Gabrielle, and Maxton Kvislen, Colton Richardson, Sophia and Caleb Carlsen. The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs of Park Place assisted living for the care they provided Don, as well as the professional, kind, and compassionate care offered by the staff of West Memory Unit at Shepherd of the Valley . They gave him friendship, love, and smiles - as well as advice, hugs, and a dash of humor for his daughter. So much thanks for that! There will be a memorial services at a later date.
