Donald Miller Madden, 90, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Life Care Center in Casper. Don was born in Booneville, Indiana on April 22, 1927, son of Jesse Madden and Stella Miller Madden. Don enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps Reserve in 1944, but was required to finish high school before reporting for duty. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1945 and soon after entered active duty service and proudly served during the end of WWII. He was stationed in Labrador, Newfoundland and Greenland in the Army Air Corps Communication System and earned the rank of Buck Sergeant. After military service, Don attended Tulsa University on the GI Bill. After graduation in 1951 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, he began his career with Mobil Oil Company. He began consulting as a Petroleum Engineer in 1969 and was a Registered Professional Engineer in Montana and Wyoming. Don married Margie Ann Munson in Billings, Montana in 1959 and continued consulting in the oil industry in the northern Rocky Mountain States. He enjoyed working in the oil patch and was an avid skier, golfer, traveler, and fly fisherman. He enjoyed many camping trips in the Wind River and Big Horn Mountains with his family. He had a passion for gardening, hiking mountain trails, and reading books of all kinds. Don was a member of the Over the Hill Gang of the Wyoming Geological Association and was a 50-year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and Morning Tour Toastmasters. He was an active member in the Methodist Church and the Wyoming Medical Center Auxiliary and volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. Don loved to sing and was a long-time member of the Oil City Slickers Barbershop chorus and Mountainaires Barbershop quartet. Throughout his life, Don was friend to everyone and a good listener. Don is survived by his wife Margie, daughter Virginia (Ginny) Madden Aycock and her husband Chip Aycock in Ventura, CA; daughter Judith (Judy) Madden and her husband Tom Sutherland of Spokane, WA; and three grandchildren: Hannah; Emma; and Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Preston Madden. A celebration of Don's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Oregon Trail State Veteran's Cemetery in Evansville.
