Donald Hollister

June 25, 1945 — September 16, 2015

June 25, 1945 - September 16, 2015 The family of Don Hollister, 70, of Casper, WY, would like to invite you to join us in celebrating the life of a remarkable man. The celebration will start at 3:30 pm, Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Don was strong and courageous to the very end, leaving us September 16, 2015. Born June 25, 1945 in Mitchell, SD to Donald and Vivian Hollister. Don earned his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T) in 1967. During his time in college he met and married the love of his life, Phyllis. They were happily married for 47 years having three children and four grandchildren. After graduating from SDSM&T, Don and Phyllis started their life together in Minnesota. Don worked for Control Data as an electrical engineer in St. Paul and Seoul, Korea; then eventually transferred to Casper, Wyoming where he and Phyllis established their home. When Control Data closed their doors, Don took a job working for Halliburton where we worked on wireline. Don and Phyllis knew they wanted to keep their family in Casper, but the demand for electrical engineers was at a low, so Don began to work in real estate where he became a broker and opened his own company, Landmark Realty. When the real estate market crashed during the mid to late 80's Don decided to commute back and forth from Casper to Denver to continue his career in real estate. After five long years driving back and forth, Don had a vision. Anyone that knew Don, knew he had a great mind full of ideas, opinions and plans. His master plan was to turn an old, mechanic shop into the first mini storage, in Casper, with an automatic gate and security. Don put his heart and soul into making his vision a reality. After fifteen years of hard work, Don finally had the chance to retire in 2004. Retiring at an early age gave Don the opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream to buy and restore a 1957 Ford Fairlane Retractable hard top. After putting endless amounts of hard work and dedication into his car, he finally got to enjoy it and take it to car shows where he ended up winning over fifteen awards. Anyone that knew Don knew he was the most honest and hard-working man you would ever meet; he wasn't afraid of hard work, constantly problem solving, and tirelessly working to find a solution. His family and friends believed he always lived by the "code of the west" just like John Wayne, "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway". Don was greeted in heaven by his loving parents, Donald and Vivian Hollister. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; children, Steven Hollister (Michele), Stacey Balster (Kevin), Tracey Hollister and (Jeremy); and four grandchildren, Christa Hollister, Michael Hollister, Samantha Hollister, and Avery Bieber-Hollister.
