Dolores Ann (Bartels) Boe, 81, of Casper passed away March 30, 2014, with family at her side after a brief illness. She was born on the farm in Ottertail County, Minnesota, February 15, 1933. Dolores was the second of 5 children of Henry and Martha Bartels. She attended a one room country school until 5th grade. She graduated from Deer Creek High School in Deer Creek, Minnesota, in 1951 as Valedictorian of her class. After high school she worked in the family restaurant, the Bartels Cafe, and the local bank. In 1954, Dolores married David (Dave) Boe in Deer Creek. Dave's job in the oil field kept them moving around the Rocky Mountain region for the first 9 years of their marriage. They lived in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Nebraska, and Wyoming, including some towns multiple times. Dolores and Dave had 3 children - Gary born in Williston, ND, Kathy born in Rock Springs, WY, and Mike born in Kimball, NB. They settled in Casper in 1963 and that was home. Dolores' priorities in life were her family and her faith. She was a loving, kind, and gracious person. She volunteered at her church and her children's schools. From her farm upbringing came her passion for working in her yard and tending her flower beds. She shared her love of gardening with her daughter and granddaughter. Dolores and granddaughter Shelby shared many adventures, including regular trips to the Nic Science Center. Dolores enjoyed playing her piano, crafts and ceramics. She traveled regularly to Minnesota to visit family, and thoroughly enjoyed her trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. After her children were grown Dolores worked at Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Wyoming District office, and later at LIAP until retirement. Dolores leaves loving memories to be cherished by her children Kathy Adams (Scott), Mike Boe (Elisa), and daughter-in-law Dana Boe, all of Casper and grandchildren, Shelby Boe of Buckeye, Arizona, and Bryce Wagner of Casper. Other family members include sister Caroline Foss of Virginia, brother Jerry Bartels (Aletha), sister-in-laws Marcia Bartels, Gladys Bartels of Minnesota and Carol Boe of Casper. Dolores was preceded in death by husband Dave in 1984, son Gary in 2010, grandson Forrest in 1984, also parents Henry and Martha Bartels, and brothers Leroy and Larry. Services will be held Thursday, April 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Casper. Dolores will be buried with Dave at Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery.
