Dollie Root

Dollie Marie Jelovchan-Root, age 58, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on July 29, 2017 at Wyoming Medical Center after a valiant effort to overcome her battle with diabetes and kidney disease. The Celebration of Life will be held at her family's ranch in Bessemer Bend on Saturday August 5th, 2017. A catered dinner for family and friends will be provided and a Lantern Memorial at dusk will follow dinner. Greg and Tiffany request your presence on Saturday to express condolences and remembrance of Dollie. Dollie was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming on October 28, 1958. She was raised by her grandmother and her great uncle on his ranch in Bessemer Bend where she attended Poison Spider School until 8th grade. She graduated from Natrona County High School in 1977 and continued on to receive a Bachelor's of Nursing from the University of Wyoming/Casper College. Dollie was married to Greg Root on May 1, 1981; they were married 36 years. Dollie worked at the County Assessors Office, Mountain Bell Telephone Company and as a nurse's aide until having her daughter in 1985. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1995, where she worked at Life Care Center of Casper managing the Alzheimer's Unit from 1995-2011. She later worked as a night shift Manager at Shepherd of the Valley from 2011-2013. As a youth, Dollie participated in basketball and track for coach Alexander while attending Poison Spider School. She also enjoyed gardening, art, music, reading, sugar gliders, caring for others and staying at home with her grandchildren. She had been actively involved in Diabetic Camp and Big Brothers and Big Sisters in the past when her health allowed. Dollie was enthralled by conversing with others and was always trying to look at the positive side of every situation. Her energy and enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed. Dollie is survived by her spouse Greg, daughter Tiffany, grandchildren Bayleigh and Lukus, her brother James Jelovchan and many friends. Dollie is preceded in death by mother Sharon, father Marcel, grandparents and her great uncle who raised her, James Speck. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to American Diabetic Association or The National Kidney Foundation.
