Diane Johnson

June 1, 1959 — August 11, 2016

Diane was born in Boston, MA (St. Elizabeth Hospital), to Geraldine and Joseph Smith, the youngest of their 5 children. She grew up in Saugus, MA and graduated from Saugus HS in 1977. As a child, Diane would spend time at her grandparents` house on Cape Cod and also with friends in New Hampshire. This developed into a lifelong love for the outdoors. While at SHS, she participated in Sports (Field Hockey co-captain, Track and Field) and was a member of National Honor Society. Diane attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and graduated with a BS in Nutritional Sciences. Shortly after college, Diane moved to South Dakota, where she worked briefly with Indian Health Services on the Souix Reservation in Rosebud, S. Dakota, and in Utah. Diane then moved to Casper, Wyoming, and started work for the State WIC Program. Diane was involved with counseling young mothers, and assisted in the implementation of programs to provide better service to WIC members while reducing costs and misuse. Most recently, Diane was Regional Nutritional Supervisor for the Wyoming WIC program. While living in Casper, Diane met Albert Johnson (formerly of Dorchester, MA) and were married on March 21, 1997. They had 2 children - Jonathan, a sophomore at Natrona County HS (Casper, WY), and Maya, who is starting her freshman year at the University of Wyoming. Diane enjoyed life and helping others. Her family was important to her and she liked spending time with her children. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping with the family, and going for walks with her husband Al. Diane is survived by her husband Al and her children. She also leaves 3 brothers and 1 sister: Joseph Jr, of Sandown, NH, Paul, of Arlington, MA, Barbara McClintock, of Gilford, NH, and Robert, of Melrose, MA.
