DELMAR L. WYATT 1936 - 2018 Delmar Leon Wyatt died September 13, 2018 at University of Colorado Hospitals, Aurora of complications thirty eight days after bilateral knee replacement surgery at Wyoming Medical Center. He was born at home on North Park Street in Casper August 12, 1936 to Clayton D. and Mildred Walker Wyatt. He attended Lincoln grade school and NCHS where he was active in ROTC and on the swim team as a backstroker. Throughout his youth, during and after high school he worked at the family business, Wyatt Service Station and Pawn Shop, 400 W. Yellowstone, founded in the early 1920's by his great uncle, Henry Wyatt who also established the Wyatt Hotel on Center St. This Conoco Station passed to his grandfather, George Wyatt, on to his father, Clayton and his uncle, Clinton, and to Delmar and his cousin upon Clayton's retirement, ending in 1999 with Delmar's retirement, after 75 years if servicing Casper residents. Delmar served in the U.S. Army 3rd Guided Nike Surface to Surface Missile Battalion from 1955 - 1958, near Vicenza, Italy. He was a Life Member of Casper Elks Lodge #1353, inducted with the JFK class of 1964. Since its inception in 1980, he enjoyed the camaraderie of North Platte Walleyes Unlimited. Delmar has been an original member of Casper College's OLLI program, looking forward to seeing friends and exposure to learning and history. Treasured daughters, Brenda and Shannon, were born to Delmar and Rosemary Mudd Wyatt in the 1960s. During this century, Delmar was involved in mining uranium at Shirley Basin and north of Douglas, employed by Petrotomics and Kerr McGee Corporations, leaving to take over his father's share of the family business. Delmar married Karen J. Jack in 1969 at Casper's First Christian Church, taking her into the Wind Rivers for Golden trout fishing as a honeymoon treat. From infancy throughout his life, Delmar's recreation, and many times, food supply came from hunting and fishing, ranging from Wyoming to Iiwacko, Mexico, Florida, Texas, the Kenai. He and Karen, along with their varied family of dogs, enjoyed 26 summers of fishing Boysen Lake at the Marina's mobile home park. Delmar prized his home and 40 years of life in Bessemer Bend, excelling in his beautiful garden and his neighbors. He was an excellent mechanic, approaching any task or problem as solvable. Survivors include Karen and their dogs; daughters, Brenda of Anchorage; Shannon (Jeff Godbout) of Tucson; siblings, Ronald; Carolyn (John) Tobin; Jerry (Susan Moss-Wyatt) all of Casper, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Oregon Trail State Veteran Cemetery in Evansville with Pastor Chris Limmer officiating. Military honors will follow from the U.S. Army and the Natrona County United Veterans Council.
