Debra Ellen Bushong passed away peacefully, in the presence of family, on February 19, 2022, just as the sun was rising over the beautiful high plains surrounding Casper, Wyoming. She was 66 years old.
Debra was born January 4, 1956, in Huron, South Dakota. She was the oldest of three children born to William Delbert Bushong and Donna Mae Bushong, nee Sisson. She was raised with her two younger brothers in rural Tulare, South Dakota, on her family’s farm. After graduating from Tulare High School in 1974, she attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota, before moving to Casper, Wyoming in 1979 where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
Debra was an intelligent and thoughtful woman, as well as a caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a deeply spiritual woman, having had a strong relationship with God. Debra was an avid reader and loved spending time with her granddaughters.
Debra was preceded in death by her son, Lucas Ray Derowitsch of Casper, Wyoming, and several aunt and uncles. Debra is survived by her parents Delbert and Donna Bushong of Redfield, South Dakota; brothers David (Diane) Bushong of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Todd (Ann) Bushong of Tulare, South Dakota; her son Cory Miller (Kate) of Casper, Wyoming; granddaughters Avery and Lenna; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service for Debra will take place March 22, 2022 at 10am in the Chapel at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home, 600 CY Avenue Casper, Wyoming 82601. A graveside service will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery, 1860 East 12th St. Casper, Wyoming. Both the memorial service and interment will be live-streamed.
