Deborah (Debbie) Kay Shughart was born September 8, 1954, in Minot, ND to Robert J and Genevieve Johnson. She attended school in Minot, graduating from Minot High in 1972.
Debbie met the love of her life, William R Shughart, when he was stationed at Minot Air Force base. They married on October 12, 1974, and so began her life as a devoted military wife.
They were blessed with three children, their daughter Shondell in 1975, their son Mark in 1977, and adopted their grandson Lane in 2002.
Life took her to many places in the country. Starting on Minot Air Force base, then to Grand Fork Air Force base and back to Minot. In 1985, she found herself and her family in Wichita Kansas, a definite difference from the smaller towns she was used to. While there, she attended 2 years of business school and worked at Boeing. In 1987, they moved to Casper, Wyoming, where she worked in medical records, at the hospital, for 30+ years. She retired in 2021. She was a member of the Oil City Car Club for many years and, later in life, she became a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Weylyn, coloring on her phone, getting her nails done and lunch out with the girls. She witnessed the birth of her grandson, Weylyn, attended Lane’s wedding and, sadly, suffered through the loss of her son Mark. Her and William celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2024, a milestone not many reach these days.
Debbie is survived by her husband Bill of 50 years, their children Shondell and her son Weylyn, and Lane & Jordan Shughart of Casper, WY, as well as her siblings and their children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son Mark, her parents Gen and Robert Johnson, her infant niece Lexi Marie, as well as extended family members and friends.
Her life was full of love and laughter, a few tears and lots of adventure.
