David Zagurski

David (Dave) Zagurski, age 90, passed away on February 15, 2015 in Casper, Wyoming. Dave was born October 14, 1924 in Gorham, North Dakota to John and Christine (Pahlinuk) Zagurski. He was raised on a farm near Williston, ND, the middle of three sons. He went to grade school and high school in North Dakota and attended a monastery school in Canada. He served in the Navy from 1944-46 in World War II as a First Class Carpenter's Mate for the Seabees in Hawaii and the Philippines. He attended the University of Denver, obtaining a business degree in 1952. In 1953, he married Norma Jean Morrison in Denver and the two moved to Casper, Wyoming to start a family, where they had two daughters. He worked for Tidewater Oil and Gas and then became an Independent Oil and Gas Landman, working and traveling as a consultant for various oil companies including Shell Western Exploration and Production out of Traverse City, Michigan. He enjoyed reading, fishing, playing dominoes, and cards, and had been a member of the Elks and VFW organizations. He was a big believer in the importance of family, attending his grandchildren's sporting and academic events whenever he was able. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren's scholastic and other achievements and encouraged and rewarded good grades. He also had quick wit and a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Norma, his daughters, Barbara (Reed) Rooney, and Carol (Barry) Stark, all of Casper, his 4 grandchildren Gavin (Nicole) Rooney of Laramie, Allison Rooney of Casper, Christine and Justin Stark of Casper, and 2 great grandchildren (Cathleen and Dylan Rooney) of Laramie, and 1 brother, Marty Zagurski of Dallas, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Theodore Zagurski Sr. of Billings, MT.
