David Richard "Dick" Sedar Dick passed away on June 6, 2019 at Central Wyoming Hospice surrounded by his adoring family. He was 88 years old. David Richard "Dick" Sedar was born on March 27, 1931 in Casper, Wyoming to John and Marta Sedar. Dick's family immigrated from Croatia to the United States in the 1910's. Dick was the 14th out of 15 children. He grew up in Casper and Dick attended St. Anthony's school and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1949. After high school Dick attended the University of Wyoming. He was on the 1950 Gator Bowl Champion Football team. He graduated in 1954 with a degree of Bachelor in Science. After college he went into the Army where he was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia as a 1st Lieutenant. From 1955 to 1956 he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1951 he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Wooten. After leaving the Army he and Virginia went back to Casper to make their home and raise their family. In 1954 their oldest David was born, followed by Rebecca and Lynn. From 1968 to 1984 Mr. Sedar served in the Wyoming State Legislature. He also served on various boards and committees. Dick was dedicated to his community and to the State of Wyoming. 1961 he opened Sedar's Colonial Lounge in Sunrise Shopping center, which he had for 47 years, until his retirement in 2006. Dick adored his family, loved his church and took great pleasure in taking care of people. Always making sure others had what they needed, whether a meal, job or word of encouragement. He was a lifetime member of St. Anthony's Catholic church. Dick held tight to his Croatian roots and was very proud of where he came from. He was also very proud of being from Wyoming and lived by the Code of the West. Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Marta; his father, John; brothers Dan, Mike, Pete, Paul, Joe, John, Bob and Tony; sisters, Mary, Katie, Eva, Ruby, Zora and Ann. Dick is survived by his wife, Virginia of 68 years, children, Dave, and Rebecca (Clark McPherson) of Casper, and Lynn (Andy Ayres) of Fort Collins CO, 7 grandchildren; Riley Fars (Roberto), Tyler Sedar (Laura), Whitney Lovelace and Peter Greiner, Henley Paradis (John), Kyle Sedar and Carly Sedar as well as eight adored great-grandchildren. A rosary will take place at 7pm on Sunday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, followed by funeral service at 11:30 am on Monday, June 17th. Bustard's Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice, Central Wyoming Rescue Mission or donor's choice.
