David Renaud

October 24, 1949 — December 29, 2013

David G. Renaud died suddenly Sunday, Dec. 29th 2013, after spending a Christmas weekend with his family. Dave was born Oct. 24th 1949 in Geneva, Illinois to Jane and Donald Renaud. Dave served in the Peace Corps in Central Africa. After returning home to Iowa, he found his life long passion of helping others while distributing food stamps. He would go on to receive his Master's Degree in Counseling and Education from Grinell College. While working at the Iowa Boy's School, he met and wed Debra Marie Hawker. Dave and Debbie had their first child, Emily Jane Renaud, on July 18th, 1981. Emily was soon followed by Matthew David Renaud, who was born April 30th, 1984. Dave moved his young family to Worland, Wyoming where he became superintendent of The Wyoming Boy's School. Dave was a devoted member of the community, and was famous for his "Widows and Orphans" Christmas parties. After moving to Casper, Dave continued his career at the Central Wyoming Counseling Center and Wyoming Recovery. Dave finished his career a fulfilled man as the Executive Director of the Self Help Center. Dave was passionate and talented in many aspects of his life. He was an expert cook. He was known for his homemade bread, his twinkie cake, and his elaborate Chinese feasts. He was a committed craftsman, who spent much of his time creating for himself and others. He will be remembered for his Adirondack chairs, his expert framing, and his grandfather clocks. Dave loved to take care of those around him - he loved a good bargain and giving to those closest to him. Dave was a fastidious dresser, who felt most dapper driving his Beamer with the top down. Dave was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church. He was an active member and Worship Leader at St. Mark's. He was a dedicated family man who put his family before all else. Dave was larger than life and will be missed most of all for his genuine, booming laughter, his frank appraisal of life, and his wry sense of humor. Dave was preceded in death by his wife Debra Renaud, his mother Jane Renaud, and his sisters Kat Renaud and Ginny Beane. Dave is survived by his sisters Donna Silvert and Mary Clock, his daughter Emily Brown and her husband Stephen, his granddaughter Madison Brown, and his son Matthew Renaud. And Sam. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, his beloved dogs, his many close friends, and the many people of the community that he helped. Dave died a sober and proud member of Alcoholic's Anonymous. A celebration of Dave's life will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4th at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Reception and lunch to follow. Memorials in his name can be made to the Self Help Center and St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
