David McCoy

David Lyle McCoy, 57, of Durango, CO, died July 15th, 2018. He was born February 1st, 1961 in Torrington, WY, to Barbara Grable McCoy and Wayne McCoy. Shortly after David and his family moved to Casper, WY where he attended grade school, Dean Morgan Junior High, Natrona County High School, and graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1979. After graduation he went to work for WYDOT and continued to work there for 25 years. In 1980 he married his high school sweetheart, Lori Harbarger. They welcomed their daughter Kimber in 1989 and their son Conor in 1993. Lori and David were divorced in 2003 after 23 years of marriage and David relocated to Colorado. Soon thereafter he went to work for CDOT, where he was a shop supervisor until his passing. David was a skilled mechanic working on race cars and doing demolition derbies with his dad and brothers long before starting his career. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his nephews Mitch and Pat and many friends. During his hunting career his accomplishments included: deer, elk, turkey, caribou, moose, big horn sheep, and mountain lion. In 1994 he won first place in the 5th Annual Pathfinder "Hawg" ice fishing derby with his walleye weighing in at 11 pounds and 15 ounces, 2nd place was a mere 2 pounds and 15 ounces. He was very proud of this. David was most proud of his twin grandsons. He adored playing and spending as much time as he could with them. He was always the first one to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. David loved making people smile and laugh. He loved telling jokes, teasing everyone, and he was always the life of the party. David is survived by his grandsons; Bentley and Briston Bray; daughter Kimber Bray of Casper, WY; son Conor McCoy of Broomfield, CO; mother Barbara Jean Garriott of Casper, WY; step-mother Carol McCoy of Youngsville, LA; siblings: Shelley (Howard) Blake of Casper, WY; Roger McCoy of Casper, WY; William (Nolita) Longmire of Youngsville, LA; Deb Barella of Casper, WY; Georgia (Don) Anderson of Trumbull, CT; and James "Skeeter" Garriott of Casper, WY; step-children: Chahlie McDonald, Summer McDonald, and Ryan McDonald; and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. David was preceded in death by; his father Wayne Lyle McCoy; brother Charles "Skip" Garriott; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 25th, 2018 at 11:00AM.
