Memorial services for Darrell Deuel, 83, will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the Elks Lodge #1797 in Lusk, Wyoming with a reception following the services. Darrell passed away April 19, 2013 at the Niobrara Health & Life Center following a brief illness. He was born July 18, 1929 in Alliance, Nebraska to George and Ida (Euler) Deuel. The family moved to Wyoming in 1930 homesteading on Cow Creek in Niobrara County. Darrell attended school in Douglas graduating from Converse County High School in 1947. He worked on various ranches in eastern Wyoming and Oregon as well as rodeoing for several years while working for Butler Brothers Rodeo Company. In 1952, he married Mary Eutsler and together they raised four daughters. Darrell and Mary were married 55 years and she preceded him in death in 2008. After working on ranches until the girls were in high school, Darrell went to work in the oil field for Updike Brothers in 1974, then on to Continental Pipeline in 1976. He retired from the company in 1993 when he and Mary moved back to Lusk, Wyoming where they lived until their respective deaths. As his daughters were growing up, Darrell actively supported their activities by becoming the Fairview 4-H Club horse leader as well as providing transportation, coaching and helping put on the local high school rodeos during the years the girls were involved in the sport. Darrell was also an active member of the Elks being initiated into the Lusk Elks Lodge #1797, then transferring to the Riverton Elks Lodge #1693 where he held several offices becoming Exalted Ruler in 1991. At the time of his death, he also served a board member for the Niobrara Senior Center. Darrell is survived bytwo sisters, Betty Harris and Ruth Wiggam four daughters: Sandy Thomas and husband, Fred, of Lusk, Darla Knuth of Riverton, Michelle Murphy of Grand Junction, Colorado, Polly Erlewine and husband, Sam, of Lusk; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four sisters: Evelyn, Delores, Shirley and Darlene, one brother, George, as well as two of his sons-in-law: Ron Knuth and Stan Murphy.
