Casper- Darrell Larry Burton, 74, passed away Wednesday May 20th, 2015 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper surrounded by his family as he took his final breath. He had bravely confronted and fought the aftermath of a devastating stroke that left him partially paralyzed in 2014. Darrell was born in Salt Lake City to Henry and Ruth (Thornton) Burton on October 4th, 1940. After graduating from Granite High School in 1959, he joined the Army reserve and the National Guard where he received an honorable discharge. He met the love of his life, Kaye, during high school and they were married in 1960 at the LDS Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1967 Darrell and Kaye moved to Casper where they were long time residents. Darrell worked as a respected meat cutter at Albertson's for forty-one years before retirement. He continued to cut meat for Country Style Meat Processing up until his stroke in 2014. Darrell was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, and friend to all that knew him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman that loved being outdoors. Darrell was young at heart and loved taking fishing and hunting trips with friends and family. Darrell was a kind soul who was admired by many. He will be dearly missed but is no longer in pain. Darrell was preceded in death by his father Henry Burton, his mother Ruth (Thornton) Burton, and his sister Donna Burton. Darrell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kaye (Simpson) Burton; his sister, Darlene (Burton) Morley; his two sons, David Burton and Steven Burton; his daughter, Cynthia Burton; three grandchildren, Shaelynn Sonsoucie, Brianna Sonsoucie, and Devin Burton; brother/sister in law Mike and Terri (Simpson) Burdette; partner in crime Bill Millay; many nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and countless close friends. A viewing will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26th, 2015 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 3931 W. 45th St. on Wednesday, May 27th, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Burial services will follow and take place at Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Boy Scout Troop # 13, 520 CY Avenue,Casper, WY 82601.
