Darlene "Dar" Skansberg of Casper passed away on June 3, 2014 after a long illness. She died peacefully at Central Wyoming Hospice. Dar was born on a farm near Truman, MN on November 14, 1934. She graduated a salutatorian of he class at Truman High School and attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. She married Dewey Skansberg on May 17, 1958, and they had four children. They moved to Casper in 1976. She is probably best known for her work as a family counselor at Crest View Hospital and over 50 years in the Al-Anon Family program. She is survived by her husband of 56 years; her daughter Billie Jean Stremel and her husband, Larry and their son, Eric and great-grandson, Erin of Denver; her son Mark Skansberg and his wife Janet and grandchildren, Erik and Brian, of Denver; and daughter, Teresa Wiggins and her husband Gregg and granddaughter, Amanda of Phoenix. She also has a grandson, Anthony Skansberg, from Casper. She is also survived by her sisters, Diane Almgren of Broomfield, CO, and Linda Snell of St. Louis, MN. Dar was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorrie Anne Cotton; her parents, Chester and Amanda Hoppe; and her brother, Larry Hoppe. There will be a celebration of her life at 12/24 Club at 500 South Wolcott on Sunday, June 22 from 2:00-4:00 pm.
