Danny was born on August 26, 1955, to Harold Keith and Gloria Rae Ashland in Forest City Iowa. Danny had three siblings. Big sister Cindy, and two little brothers, Dave and Teri. Danny grew up in Rapid City South Dakota and attended high school there. He knew early on that he wanted to help other people. His career includes jobs at the Children’s Home, Vocational Rehabilitation and the Central Wyoming Counseling Center where he assisted the mentally ill folks in our community. He retired from the Counseling Center in 2015.
Danny met his first wife Connie when they were in high school and getting ready for college. They were married for 25 years and they adopted a sweet little girl they named Kristy in 1991. Kristy was the apple of her daddy’s eye! They shared a special relationship and Danny loved Kristy with all his heart! Dan and Connie divorced in 2002.
In 2001, Danny met his future wife, Lisa Dudley while the two worked at Vocational Rehabilitation. They married on March 8th, 2003. They had a lot of fun! They bought a pop up camper in 2016 and spent almost every weekend camping! Danny loved camping! It lifted his soul to be out in nature!
Danny struggled with alcoholism for most of his adult life. He walked into AA in 2007 and had been sober ever since! He loved the AA way of life and became a sponsor for other men wanting to quit alcohol. He loved that organization. He was a big part of it and helped many by sharing his experience, strength and hope. Danny would have celebrated 16 years of sobriety on August 23rd, 2023.
Danny was a beautiful soul. He was generous, he was a true gentleman. He was soft spoken, but so sharp. We had many laughs privately. Being our true selves to each other. I love you Dan. So much! I will never forget you, and I expect you to be waiting for me when it’s my time!
Danny is survived by his wife Lisa. Daughter Kristy. Sister Cindy (Tracy Krsnak), Dave (Tammy), Teri, (Roxanne). Step daughter Ashley Dudley and many nieces and nephews.
