Dale Valentine

Dale Lee Valentine passed away July 31, 2016 from complications following a stroke surrounded by family. He was born August 28, 1933. Dale was the youngest of seven children born to William "Bill" and Lula (O'Neal) Valentine. He was raised on the family ranch 7 miles west of Glenrock. He graduated from Glenrock-Parkerton High School. He was drafted in the US Army in 1957 and served in the 3rd Infantry Caisson Regiment "The Old Guard" at Fort Meyer, Virginia. On July 20, 1958 he married Verna Lee Boyd in Oakwood, Virginia. They returned to the family ranch in 1959 before being recalled to the Army in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis, where he served one year in Tacoma, Washington. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1962. Dale and Verna started Valentine Construction in 1968, operating it together until their divorce in 1989. Dale continued operating the business until the time of his death. He served several years on the Glenrock School Board. He enjoyed tinkering with and operating machinery, flying airplanes and in later years attending races and working on Valentine Speedway. He is preceded in death by two infant sons, both parents and all of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children; CB (Rena) Valentine of Douglas, Lesa Valentine of San Fransisco and Terry Valentine of Glenrock, two grandchildren; Trevor and Tyler Valentine and numerous nieces and nephews. At Dale's request, graveside services will be held in the Glenrock Cemetery at 3:00 pm on August 4, 2016 with Bustards Funeral Home handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Dale's name.
