Craig Barnum

July 3, 1942 — April 16, 2017

Craig Vernon Barnum was born to Vernon and Ruth (Sides) Barnum on July 3rd, 1942 in Casper, Wyoming. Soon after high school, he served in the U.S. Navy, where he spent the next thirteen and a half years traveling all over the world. 53 months of that time was spent fighting in the Vietnam War. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he became a welder/pipe fitter for various machine shops in Maryland. A few years later he met the love of his life, Nena "Paige" (Hollers) Barcenas. In 1979, they moved back to Casper Wyoming. On December 6, 1980, they are married and he instantly became a father to Paige's 6 children: Laura Brandon, John Barcenas, Lydia Barcenas (Whitten), Thomas Barcenas, David Barcenas, and James (Jimmy) Barcenas. In the early 80s he started working for Amoco Refinery, where he eventually was transferred to Texas City, Texas in the early 90s. He retired from BP Amoco in 2005 where he and Paige moved to Glenrock, Wyoming until his death. Craig was always known for being a social butterfly and loved to talk to people. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop with various projects, doing wood work, playing pool and darts, collecting Corvettes, and playing with all his animals. However, his true passions in life fishing and spending as much time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Craig is survived by his wife Nena "Paige", brother Dean (Jan) of Cedar Rapids Iowa, Gordon of Casper Wyoming, children Laura Brandon (Dee Maritndale) of Aberdeen Maryland, John Barcenas (Dani) of Seattle Washington, Lydia Whitten of Casper Wyoming, Thomas Barcenas (Michelle) of Deale Maryland, David Barcenas (Marina) Huntingtown Maryland; grandchildren Christina Barcenas, Steven Barcenas, Amanda Barcenas, Amber Barcenas all of Maryland, Marilyn Whitten, Christopher Whitten both of Casper Wyoming, Christopher Barcenas; and great-grandchild Aiden Carter of Maryland and numerous nieces and nephews. Craig is proceeded in his death by both his parents, Vernon Barnum and Ruth Wolf, step-father N.A. Wolf, sister-in-law Barbra "Babs" Barnum, nephew Martin Barnum, and son James Barcenas. Memorial services for Craig will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery at 2:00pm with the reception to follow at the VFW on Bryan Stock Trail.
