Cora Elaine Schieferstein Cora Elaine Schieferstein, 78, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Poplar Living Center, Casper, Wyoming. Services will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 318 East 6th Street, Casper, Wyoming with Pastor Bob McNamara officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. She was born in Kenmare, North Dakota, November 5, 1931 to Carl and Edna (Rasmusson) Steen. She graduated from Kenmare High School in 1949. She began her college education at the former Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Black Hills State College, Spearfish, South Dakota. She earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley. Cora taught elementary school in Battleview and Tioga, North Dakota and Timber Lake, South Dakota. She taught kindergarten through grade 12 and later special reading in the Natrona County School District, Casper, for 35 years, retiring in 1995. She married Arnold Schieferstein June 1st, 1954. They later divorced. She was a member of Alpha Delta Cappa Teachers Association. Cora was a long-time member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Casper. She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Barbara) and Troy (Nikki) Schieferstein, 6 grandchildren, one sister, Carol Rosenthal of Minot, North Dakota, Howard Steen of Minot and Vernon Steen, of Rapid City, South Dakota, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and two brothers, Selmar and Leonard, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Casper Lutheran Youth Ministry.
