Cora Dill

October 6, 1932 — November 28, 2016

Corky was born to Emmett Gordon and Kittie Lou Estes in Brea, California on October 6, 1932. Little sister Diane (Lehman) followed five years later. After attending (23) schools from California to Kentucky. Corky graduated from Thermopolis High School (after her junior year ! ) in 1948. She married Wes Johnson of Casper in January , 1950, becoming an instant mom to his two kids, Michael and Sharron, then followed sons Pat, Kelly and Shannon, After her many early life travels, she settled in for the next (67) years at the family home at 303 Riverview in Mills. Wes died in September of 1983; six years later, on July 29, 1990, she married Joe Dill, former mayor of Mills, who remained by her side until her passing on November 28, 2016. By virtue of her marriages and the exploits of her offspring, she accumulated two other kids, Tracy Walters and Lonny Dill, six daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, thirteen grandkids, thirteen great-grandkids and three great-great-grandkids. Add in brothers-in-law Sydney Lehman, Glenn Dill (plus sister-in-law, Pam), Don Dill (plus sister-in-law, Molly) and sister-in-law Dee Grunewald (and brother-in-law, Max) and her extended family extended a long way. Corky was a bold personality, intellect and talent. Loads of Casperites were thoroughly entertained by her marvelous voice through such outlets as Sweet Adelines and The Red Dog Saloon Players. She also sang in the choir at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church among other gigs. A past High Priestess of K'Heta Court #59 of the Ladies of the Shrine, she was active in the Casper Shrine Club along with husband Joe. A demon for detail, good grammar and a voracious reader, woe be to whoever misused the English language in her presence. Corky cut a broad swath and touched the lives of multitudes; we will miss her forever. Services will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 318 E. 6th Street, Casper, at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 5, 2016. As her favorite color was red, we invite all Red Hat Ladies to attend, suitably attired. Pallbearers will be Brandon Klungness, Lonny Dill, Erick Walters, Roy Atkins, Conor Johnson and Shannon Johnson plus honorary pallbearer, Michael Johnson.
