Connie Jordan

June 11, 1951 — April 11, 2017

Connie Frances Jordan (nee Albertson) passed away in the early morning hours of April 11, 2017, following a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was a loving mother, a wonderful sister, a kind aunt and an unforgettable friend. Her genuine compassion and thought for others was unmatched. Connie was born in Somerset, Kentucky on June 11, 1951. From a young age, she was passionate about music and played the violin, piano, oboe, guitar and mandolin. She played in symphonies and orchestras throughout her life; music was something that brought her great joy. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Kentucky and her doctorate in education from the University of Wyoming. She also received a master's degree in public administration from the University of Wyoming. She spent her working life in education, teaching in Okeechobee, Florida and on the Wind River Reservation while living in Lander. She then moved to Laramie to earn her doctorate and taught students in the education program at the University of Wyoming. She lived in Casper from 2011 to 2017. Connie was chosen as Miss Kentucky 1969 at age 19 and placed seventh in the Miss USA World beauty pageant that same year in Baltimore, Maryland. She was an avid photographer, winning several contests for her work in her 30s. Connie was preceded in death by her father and stepmother Harold and Velma Albertson of Lafayette, Indiana, and her mother Gladys Albertson of Daytona Beach, Florida. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Schwartz (nee Jordan) and son-in-law Ryan Schwartz of Casper, and her brother Ron Albertson, his wife Tricia and their children Trevor and Hillary Albertson of Daytona Beach, Florida. Memorial services will be held in Casper on Sunday, April 23, at the Tate Pumphouse Trail Center at 1 p.m.
